Details
In the second narrative, a young man by the name of William Anderson falls in love with a young lady by the name of Emeline Stewart, and the very proper steps taken in courtship are maintained. They grew up in an area of Maine called New Vineyard, and after their marriage, they are introduced to the gospel and move with the Saints to Nauvoo. It is there that William loses his life in the defense of Nauvoo.
The third narrative presents the experiences and Providential protection of O. B. Huntington as he travels to Carson Valley in what is now Nevada. He was asked to explore a new route to California through the area of Carson for Colonel E. J. Steptoe of the U.S. Army. His experiences and close calls with the Indians along the way demonstrate the Lord's hand in his protection.
